Resources for:
Emergency Preparedness
In any emergency or natural disaster, our primary concern is for your children's safety and peace of mind. Therefore, the faculty and staff have reviewed and updated Fremont's Disaster Preparedness Plan. Your support and cooperation are ESSENTIAL to its success.
Please, study the following procedures, prepare for them and review applicable ones with your child(ren).
- Tune in to local stations including radio stations KFWB (AM 980) and KNX
(AM 1070), and on cable, Glendale Schools Education Channel (Channel 15)
and City of Glendale Public Channel (Channel 6).
- Stay off the telephone! Communicating with the school via telephone after
a disaster will prove difficult, if not impossible.
- After an emergency, students will be escorted to an emergency assembly
area on the upper grass field.
- When arriving at school to pick-up your child, come to the Arlington gate
where school personnel will sign out students to you or your authorized designee.
- In case parent(s) or parent designee are unable to pick-up the child(ren)
for a long period of time following the emergency, it is important for parents
to know that students will remain at Fremont School or be housed at a central
location under the careful supervision of the school staff until their arrival.
Names of transported students as well as the location will be posted at the
Arlington entrance.
- The most important way to minimize confusion and potential problems is
to have a detailed form filled out by you, the parent, which instructs us
on how you want the school to proceed in such an event. Please fill out this
form carefully and completely and return it to school. All students are required
to have this form on file. If there are any changes during the year, be sure
to notify the school office.
- Impress upon your child(ren) the need for them to follow directions of any school personnel. A complete outline of the plan is available in the school office should you care to study the plan in detail. We will also be having emergency drills to further prepare and reassure the children. Thank you for helping us keep your children safe.
Should you have any related questions, please do not hesitate to call the school at (818) 249-3241.
